Stena Nautica repairs after collision

Remontowa has won the tender for repair of the Swedish ferry Stena Nautica. The contract was signed on 5th of March 2004 and the ferry arrived to Remontowa on a towline on Mach, 8. The necessity of repairs was the result of the collision, which took place in February. During the voyage between Sweden and Denmark, in Danish Straits, the coaster Joanna hit the side of the ferry with its bow. From the place of collision, the near sinking ferry with flooded engine room, has been towed to the harbour of Varberg, where the hole in the side was temporary patched and next to the harbour of Goeteborg, where the steelwork has been completed, before the ship was brought to Remontowa.
The engine room and generators on the ferry were out of order so at first, the temporary lighting has been assembled and than the engine room has been cleaned.
The scope of work included the overhaul of the engine room, complete exchange of all the cables (about 20 km of cables have been replaced), control and monitoring panels and tables with automation and steering repairs or replacement, replacement of insulation and rinsing of the pipe systems and also repair of four generators, two shaft alternators and many electrical engines. Moreover the contract also called for repair and exchange of the cabins, which were flooded in result of collision.
Stena Nautica left the shipyard in June 2004.
