Vessels of the greatest shipowners in Europe are being repaired in the shipyard. The French company Delmas sent a good part of its fleet to Remontowa S.A. – universal, craned bulk-carriers. The first one arrived at the shipyard eight years ago. It was Lucie Delmas. In 2001 Remontowa S.A. worked on the repair of four sister vessels: Delphine Delmas, Adeline Delmas, Caroline Delmas and Blandine Delmas, each 176m long and 30m broad.
The scope of work carried out on each of them was very similar: renewal of 100 to 200 tons of steel structures in tanks, repair of cranes and hatch covers.
On Caroline Delmas 110t of steel constructions were renewed in almost all the ballast tanks and cargo holds. 8000m2 of the hull were sandblasted and painted. All the hatch covers were repaired, sandblasted and painted. In the forepeak of Caroline Delmas 30 tons of steel were renewed, on Blandine, twice as much. The work was time-consuming, and had to be done according to specific technological procedures. Blandine Delmas arrived at the shipyard on 16th July, and that was the last of Delmas’ vessels to be repaired this year at Remontowa S.A. On 4th August the ship was placed in dock. The work consisted not only of docking and hull treatment, but also of the overhaul of the steer and a propeller, as well as the maintenance and painting of the hull. The underwater part of the ship was repaired too. Of the four Delmas ships, Blandine Delmas went through the greatest scope of hull repair – over 200 tons of steel structures were renewed. |
