VOC recovery systems installations

In order to reduce VOC emission, a second generation VOC recovery plants (recovering vapors from the tanks during cargo handling operations), have been installed onboard the following shuttle tankers:
- Navion Hispania
- Navion Scandia
- Navion Stavanger
- Grena
- Navion Britannia
- Stena Sirita
The last of the mentioned vessels, m/t Stena Sirita, managed by IUM Shipmanagement, left Remontowa S.A. after installation of:
- VOC Module (process module)
- VOC Collection Tank
- VOC Boiler House
VOC Module and VOC Collection Tank were located in the ship cargo deck area and Boiler House was located on the ship's poop deck. They were equipped with ladders and walkways for operation and maintenance access. Pipes and cables were installed between main items.
Apart from the outdoor equipment, some minor items such as: distribution boards, control stations, instruments, pumps and valves were installed inside compartments: bridge, control room, engine room etc.
Navion Hispania and Navion Britannia were dry-docked during time of VOC installation. Maintenance and
repair work including BLS and side thrusters overhauling were performed on both of them.
At the occasion of conversion of the Norwegian tanker Tove Knutsen, operated by Knutsen OAS Shipping, the KVOC (Knutsen VOC) system has been installed onboard, which is the author’s system of Knutsen company. Tove Knutsen left the shipyard on the 6th of April 2004.
